Int’l friendly: Klinsmann thrilled to play Eagles

USA national team head coach,
Jurgen Klinsmann has said he is
thrilled by the opportunity to play
against Nigeria in a pre-World Cup
friendly.
The German trainer is of the
opinion that the match will give
USA the chance to test an African
opponent before they play the
Black Stars at the World Cup
considering that Nigeria are
Ghana’s arch-rivals.
Klinsmann believes the Super
Eagles will offer him an insight on
how to plan his strategy for USA’s
Group G foe, Ghana when both
sides clash on June 16 in the
opening group game at the Estadio
das Dunas, Natal in Brazil.
“ We are absolutely thrilled with
the schedule we have put
together for the Send-Off Series,
said Klinsmann.
“ We have some fantastic
opponents that will help us get
prepared for the teams we will
meet in the World Cup.
Meanwhile, tickets for the pre
World Cup friendly game between
USA and the Super Eagles of
Nigeria has gone on sale from
Saturday, according to the
organisers.
The game, the last in a three-
match send-off programme
organised by the United States
Soccer Federation will hold on
June 7 at the EverBank Field in
Jacksonville, Florida.
The friendly is one in a series of
friendly games agreed by the
Nigeria Football Federation to
prepare the Eagles.
Nigeria will also face Greece and
Scotland as part of the
preparations.
