African arts and culture will be on
parade in far away United States
as the Festival of Arts and Cultural
Expo Africa 2014 (FACE Africa)
holds from May 2 to 3 at the
Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Atlanta
Airport, Atlanta, Georgia.
Designed to celebrate indigenous
heritage and recognize excellence
in service, outstanding
achievements, leadership, and
honour individuals and
organizations that have dedicated
their lives and time to the
continued growth and promotion
of culture, heritage, language,
libraries, archives, museums, and
educational programming in Africa
and the Diasporas, the event is
being organized by AfriQtalk in
collaboration with the Consulate
General of Nigeria, Atlanta, and
Pan African Chambers of
Commerce.
Joseph Benjamin Chibuzor and
Lawrence Akhidenor (MC Larry D)
will host the FACE Award. The
event will also feature Bez
Idakula, Ayoola Johnson, Joel
Amadi, (Joe El), Majekodunmi
Ibrahim Olayiwola (General Pype)
Joseph Chibuzor, Oko, Kola Gbedu
Master, and cultural dance groups.
According to Princess Asha,
organiser of the event, the
objective of the expo is to
promote cultural ties, tourism
investment opportunities,
information exchange, bilateral
trade between Africa and the
United States. “It is also to make
people aware of the contributions
of Africans in the Diasporas and
the impact of Africa in global
economy, celebrate Africans and
African-Americans’ influences on
global cultures, and bridge the
cultural gap in education,
technology, research, business,
and entertainment,” she said.
This year, FACE Africa will
showcase Nigeria’s cultural
heritage and tourism. The
platform will create the
environment to network, do
business and capitalize on the fast
growing hospitality and tourism
sector in Nigeria. “There will be a
star-studded event, live
performances from local and
international artistes, celebrity
guests, and a movie premiere,
including cultural dance groups,
beauty contest, and activities that
promise to give you a fulfilling
weekend,” Princess Asha stressed.
Endorsed by the Ministry of
Culture and Tourism, the two-day
culture and tourism investment
expo and award is expected to
attract over a thousand dignitaries,
delegates and people from all
walks of life to the city of Atlanta,
with a series of workshops,
conference and break out
sessions. The exhibition will
display quality products and
services on a single platform, ideal
for profit comparison.
Keynote speakers, moderators,
sponsors, special guests and those
on panel of discussions will have
the option to make presentations.
Prior to the award night, the
search will be on for the new Face
of Nehita presented by Positive
Run Way, a fashion show, whose
mission is to bridge the gap in the
global efforts to stop the spread of
HIV/AIDS.
