Flamingoes’ coach picks 21 for World Cup

Nigeria U-17 Women’s team (Flamingoes)
handler, Bala Nkiyu has picked his 21-
man squad for the 2014 Costa Rica FIFA
U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The list which is made up of three
goalkeepers, eight defenders, five
midfielders and five forwards includes:
Azerbaijan 2012 U- 17 Women’s World
Cup Silver boot recipient, Chinwendu
Ihezuo, Tessy Kesiena (Captain), Elijah
Esther, Ikechukwu Vivian, Vincent Mary,
Anibaba Ayomide.
Nkiyu had joined the rest of the other
countries coaches who has faced one of
their most difficult challenges of
choosing their final 21 players to
participate at the tournament kicking off
from March 15 to April 4.
Flamingoes are currently on a training
tour in Faro, Portugal and it would be
recalled that Coach Nkiyu had selected
25 players for the 19 days training tour
and had dropped four players; Ginika
Ikeh (Confluence Queens), Chika Edeh
(Nasarawa Amazons), Yakubu Aminat
(Rivers Angels), and Agams Nkechinyere
(COD United Ladies ) from his final list
made availiable to FIFA.
A total of 336 players from the 16 teams
will be seeking glory in Costa Rica.
Nigeria will trade tackles with China,
Mexico and Colombia in Group D at the
tournament.
