Actress, Ebele Anna-Patrick, who recently blew the whistle on the Asaba
sector of Nollywood, has exonerated movie producers and directors
declaring that the rot is not their fault. The actress was summoned by industry players to a meeting recently amid
rumours that she would be banned. However, sources say during the
meeting she had exonerated DGN members, producers and movie marketers,
declaring that she was not referring to them. “I wasn’t referring to DGN members or other registered producers in
Asaba. Just like we know in every gathering, there must be a Judas and
that’s why it’s pertinent that actors endeavour to work with verified
movie practitioners. While working in Asaba, I have come in contact with
a lot of sincere producers and directors who dare not compromise on the
standard they have set for themselves. In fact, my mentor, Nonso Ekene
Okonkwo, has always stressed the need for up and coming actors to strive
to work with recognised guild members.” Ebele had declared recently in an interview that desperate actresses not
only pay money to get roles but also sleep around with producers and
directors. And as expected, Ebele attracted a lot of flak from producers
and directiors who were enraged by what they described as her
outbursts.
