Nigeria Football Federation Extra-Ordinary General Assembly yesterday in Warri, Delta State, resolved that elections into the NFF executive committee would hold on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Warri.
The well attended congress, which was presided by the out-going NFF president, Aminu Maigari, had Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba as the representative of the Honorable Minister of Sports/Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Tammy Danagogo while Alhassan Yakmut represented the Director-General, National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye.
In strict adherence to FIFA rules, the congress inaugurated an Electoral Committee and an Electoral Appeals Committee.
The new Electoral Committee is composed of Barr. Samson Ebomhe, Barr. M.T.Ahmed, Mr. Sadiq Yusuf Zaria, Rev. Onyeaghala Obioma, Engineer Adeola Adelanwa, Alh. Sani Dahiru Yakassai, Mrs. Srah Jumoke Adebisi and Barr. Awwal Mohammed with Barr. Musa Amaedu as Secretary.
Barr. Okey Ajunwa, Mr. Dotun Coker and Mallam Sani constitute the Appeals Committee with Dr. Mohammed Sanusi as Secretary while Mr. Victor Nwangwu and Mr. Bala Garba were placed as substitute members.
The Congress unanimously affirmed the FIFA directive that the 2014 Elective Congress shell compose of only delegates that attended the November 2013 Annual General Assembly in Warri.
Meanwhile, NFF General Secretary, Musa Amadu, told reporters that yesterday’s extraordinary congress went ahead despite rumours that a court injunction, obtained by a group led by Chris Giwa, to stop the Congress. It would be recalled that the group had twice been turned back by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in recent weeks.
